You can see a thousand photos of it and still not be ready. The Eiffel Tower in person, iron latticework climbing into a grey Paris sky, is one of those things that lands differently than expected. A sticker will not recreate that, but it will remind you of it every time you open your laptop.

Five things you might not know about the tower

Parisians hated it. When it went up for the 1889 World's Fair, artists and writers signed a public protest calling it a monstrosity.
It was meant to be temporary. The plan was to dismantle it after twenty years. It survived because it turned out to be a brilliant radio antenna.
It grows in summer. The iron expands in heat, so the tower is up to about 15 centimetres taller on hot days.
It gets repainted by hand. Roughly every seven years, using around 60 tonnes of paint.
Gustave Eiffel had a private apartment at the top. Small, wood-panelled, and the envy of all Paris.

Of course the tower is only the beginning. Paris is riverside walks along the Seine, buttery croissants eaten standing up, Montmartre's hills, the Louvre, and long unhurried dinners. The Eiffel Tower has just become the shorthand for all of it — one image that says the whole city at once.
